In February 2002, the Cryogenics Division of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd., one of the most respected cryogenic companies in the world, acquired APD Cryogenics to form SHI Cryogenics Group. The combined global infrastructures, manufacturing capabilities and product ranges of Sumitomo Heavy Industries and APD Cryogenics bring to the marketplace a unique and unprecedented capability, to enable rapid development of the next wave of cryogenic equipment.
Osamu Sekiya, General Manager of SHI Cryogenics Group, said, "Sumitomo Heavy Industries is focused on expanding its position in cryogenic technology and applications. The major engineering and manufacturing facilities of SHI Cryogenics Group are located in Tanashi, Japan and Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA. Both facilities are ISO certified, ensuring that products, solutions and services meet the appropriate requirements and satisfy customer requests.
