Home Products 4K Cryocoolers

The SHI Cryogenics Group (S)RDK models are high performance Gifford McMahon cryocoolers. First introduced in 1995, they are known for their large cooling capacity and remarkable characteristic of being orientation-dependence free. These two features have earned the cryocooler wide renown in the field of superconducting magnets. They are broadly accepted not only in the industrial market, but also in research applications.

Features include:

  • Easy operation
  • Orientation free
  • Small and compact
  • Applied to cryostats and other experimental equipment

4K Cryocooler Compressor Options

Wherever your cryocooler is to be located–in a laboratory or at the top of a mountain–we have produced a range of compressors for our customers varied applications and site requirements.

The 408D2 and 415D cryocoolers are frequently used within MRI suites around the world. SHI has produced a range of compressor options for these cryocoolers, which include multi-voltage, water-cooled and air-cooled solutions.  Both cryocoolers feature use of the new F-50 Compressor.  The F-50 is available in high and low voltage versions and boasts a 30,000 hour maintenance interval.

In contrast, the 101D laboratory cryocooler was designed to be a plug & play system, where power consumption is minimal. Operated by a single-phase, air-cooled compressor, requiring only 1.5kW at cool down, the CNA-11 is perfectly suited for laboratory research.

The CNA-61 series is the first of its kind. The compressor offers a small indoor control unit, which can be located near the cryocooler, and then a larger air-cooled outdoor unit. Customers have used this compressor option in remote locations in Chile and China, for example, where water utilities and indoor space are scarce.

If you have a particular requirement then please contact your local office, for advice on the suitability of each compressor.
